So here we are into week 3, how do I feel? Well, lighter that’s for sure!
I definitely have more energy and don’t feel hungry during the day after breakfast, sometimes I forget to eat.
It’s important to make sure I’m getting all the nutrients I need so have to make sure I at least have a green smoothie. I bought some Pea Protein which is low carb but ups all those amino acid building blocks (protein).
I’m working on creating more vegan keto recipes which I’ll gradually add to the recipe section. This takes a long time! Measuring the ingredients, writing everything down, taking pictures, then adding to the blog.
I discovered a health food store in town which has been there for years. I never knew, tucked up a side street! Anyway, they sell everything I need in there, including Jackfruit and all the vegan Violife cheeses, seeds, nuts etc. They even sell those vegan eggs, which I didn’t purchase, no way at nearly £8 a pop.

I also purchased some Kimchi, a fermented food (good for the gut)
Oh, I finally succumbed and bought some Ketosis sticks, reading was nearly at the top so positive for being in Ketosis.
Because my appetite has lessened considerably my calorie intake has gone down. I don’t need as many fat bombs to stave off the hunger pangs.
So, although you don’t need to count the calories when eating a high-carb diet, if you’re overweight, less calories is good.
Night 5 of week three, OMG, terrible pin prick itching in my arm, I wanted to rip my arm off and it went on for hours.
I got very little sleep that night. From my research, what I understand is that you can get a rash as your body adapts to Ketosis (it’s called Prurigo pigmentosa). You can read more about it here .
Fortunately, it was very mild and there has been no recurrence!
I don’t think I’ll ever want to go back to a high-carb diet. I have more energy, my asthma seems to be disappearing, my sense of smell (gone for years with sinus problems) is coming back. I’ve also lost around 21 lbs!
Now I have a new problem, do I buy some new clothes (mine are starting to hang on me)? Or make do until the weight loss stops?
I do have a sewing machine and am pretty handy with it, so I think I’ll make adjustments to my clothes first!
I’ll look for images, do a before and after, before I adjust my clothes!
Watch this space…..
